2023 mid-year book recommendations
Six books that I simply must recommend, in no particular order.
Thank you for joining me in the Inner Parlour today. This is a subsection of my newsletter, Lilith’s Muse, where we’ll have deeper conversations in a smaller setting. So please, take a seat by the fire. You are in good company here.
With June officially behind us, we are now in the second half of 2023! Time is soaring by this year, but I’ve been lucky enough to read a ton of amazing books across multiple genres.
Reading is essential for my job as a writer, but it’s also a fun thing I do to press “fast-forward” on my life. I read while waiting to meet up with friends, I read on public transportation, I read on beaches and in my bedroom too late at night and too early in the morning. Reading is like water for me—it fills up the small crevices of time in my life that can’t quite fit anything else.
Today I’ve gathered a list of six books that I simply must recommend, in no particular order. They’re not all recent because I am a huge fan of reading old books—backlists exist for a reason—but they’re all books that I enjoyed and I hope you will too.
